Was it a Jugalbandi of Kheyal (Raag Behag) and Rabindrasangeet by these two great singers trying to bring a new dimension to this beautiful Rabindrasangeet , a total injustice to this great song inspite of their most melodious voice . Rabindranath would have been shocked to hear this presentation of his song. Would the above singers like Kheyal to be sung in a Rabindrasangeet manner ? Each type of music or song has a distinct flavour so i would request these two great singers to please maintain it .

oh yes. stay a few years in Santiniketan first and get a hold of the intactness of rabindrasangeet that is maintained by the singers here before commenting these. Tagore had prohibited any further improvisation in is songs. In case of a doubt, get a Full Volume of Geetabitan and do actually read the last pages where Tagore himself wrote about his songs being hampered by other singers as they've been improvising them in their ways, and how it has "pained" Tagore. He had compared his pain of having his songs changed to losing his own daughters to "ineligible" matches. Please do a basic research while commenting (and influencing) in a public platform.
Among the "people" you refer to are individuals for whom Rabindrasangeet goes beyond just music. It is part of their consciousness and being. Rabindrasangeet in its pure and unadulterated form is bliss for them whereas musical soirees (circus) featuring this mongrelization is a blow to them! Best of luck to the venerable ones for 'fooling' around Rabindrasangeet. Same hold true for classical music. Mixing oil with water may make great visuals but it renders both oil and water useless.
